February 22 -- Exhaustion

Whew!! Last night Evan decided he just didn't feel like sleeping. He slept in his crib until 1 AM, after which Will moved him to the bassinet because our monitor makes so much noise (we're getting a new one). Note to self -- bad idea. Now that Evan has experienced the silence of his nursery, he doesn't sleep well in his bassinet anymore. Used to be that you could fire a cannon next to his bassinet but no more!! Every little noise wakes him now. So as soon as we can get a new monitor set up (and the movement monitor on the crib for paranoid Mom), into the crib with Evan. So anyway, it was a loooong night. But hey -- I'm still getting more sleep than most new moms, so I really can't complain. Much. ;)

We had to cancel a brunch with dear friend Carrie Sue due to snow and cold weather, but it warmed up in the afternoon enough to take Evan to see Grandpa and Auntie Lisa (Grandma is in California helping Aunt Elena recover from her header ... hope you feel better soon honey). Grandpa cooked us an amazing meal and was just wonderful with Evan when gas started plaguing him again. Grandpa is the new Baby Whisperer, I swear!! Evan was nothing but squirmy and whiny for Dad and Mom but as soon as Grandpa got him -- OUT!! Good job Grandpa.

Goals for this week are to get out EVERY DAY (no more cabin fever for me!!) and try to resume some semblance of a normal life, running errands and such. I'm more than 4 weeks post partum and it's definitely time. Tomorrow Evan and I are having lunch with Jess Philie at Mama Ayesha's, assuming that Evan doesn't melt down. Tuesday Evan has his pediatrician appointment, more errands and possibly a trip to Grampy's office. Wednesday the incomparable NANA arrives!! We are sooo excited to have her company -- and her help!

OK, back story for this one ... we had to take the inner head support out of the carseat since Evan has outgrown it, but he's still not quite big enough for the regular head support. So we had to put a rolled-up blanket around his head for extra support. However, he ended up looking like the newest member of the Baby Liberation Organization:

remember -- baby power!
