March 14 -- A Day With Mommy and Daddy

Today Evan spent most of the day just hanging out with Mommy and Daddy, before we headed over to Grandma & Grandpa's for another weekend with the family.

March 13 -- Feeling Better!

Today it was obvious that Evan felt a lot better. However, being 7 weeks old has brought several new things with it. First, Evan found his "voice" this week ... suddenly he's not shy about communicating when he has a problem. We have lung practice several times a day now. Second, and much to my dread, he has learned how to fight sleep. I've seen this kid spend hours at a time awake, sometimes looking like he has matchsticks propping his eyelids up, and you know what being overtired brings ... see #1. Seems like the days of not being awoken by anything short of cannon fire are over. So I think we're going to have to start thinking about putting this kid on a nap schedule. More on that later.

In developmental news, Mommy was blowing raspberries at Evan and he found that so funny that he let out his first real giggle. It was too cute!!

March 12 -- Diagnosis

Evan and I went to the doctor, and he now officially has reflux. Evan made the diagnosis easier by vomiting all over Mommy's shirt during the evaluation.

Evan did have a great night last night, and was a sunny little guy for most of the day, so thanks for crossing your fingers. However, he's been vomiting and wailing in pain for the past few hours :( However, he starts infant Prevacid in the morning and it should start working within the next few days. Will and I are really looking forward to putting an end to his painful episodes.

We had to go to Grubb's pharmacy on Capitol Hill to get his medicine ordered, which happens to be just a couple of blocks from where I lived in the summer of 1996 with Alison & Leah & Claude ... 12 and 1/2 years ago!! I couldn't resist taking Evan for a stroll down Memory Lane:

March 11 -- Still Not Feeling Well

Well, Evan's tummy has still been bothering him today although it was better than yesterday. The latest problem, though, is that he has refused to sleep since about noon. You can imagine what a joy to be around he was.

THere wasn't much time to take decent pictures today, so this is what I have. Please keep your fingers crossed that my poor little guy sleeps well tonight and is in better spirits tomorrow!!

March 10 -- Holy Upset Tummy

Evan had a really rough night last night ... he woke up at 3 AM to eat and then wouldn't go back to sleep. We finally got him back down around 5, but he woke up vomiting at 7:30. Poor thing spit up and vomited all day. I spent most of my day mopping up after the poor little guy, who was completely different from his sunny self. When not sleeping (which wasn't often), he was vomiting and crying and/or screaming and/or wailing in pain. I haven't yet experienced a day where my baby is crying in pain and I can't do a thing about it except hug him tight and try to offer what little comfort i can.

At around 12:30 he finally fell asleep wrapped in a blanket and curled up on my chest. Around 2 I had to set him down in his bouncy so that I could grab a quick bite:

March 9 -- Sleeping Through the Night

Evan SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT LAST NIGHT!!! He slept from 11 to 6!! And then fed, and then slept again from 7 to 9!! That's right ... I got NINE HOURS of sleep!! I felt like i had been to the spa. Honestly. I took advantage by running tons of errands and generally getting stuff done. Now I am exhausted again, and poor Evan is racked out after being dragged all over town, so without further ado, here are today's shots:
